President Donald Trump called on Saudi Arabia to join the Abraham Accords, saying the Middle East is being transformed by the war in Iran and that the region’s future has never looked brighter. Speaking at a conference in Miami, he expressed optimism that recent developments have created a new opportunity for expanded regional cooperation.
Addressing Saudi national Yasir Al-Rumayyan in the audience, Trump urged him to encourage Saudi leaders to enter the agreement, saying it is now time. He recounted past conversations with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in which the Saudi leader indicated willingness to join but cited additional conditions that needed to be met.
Trump argued that Iran’s regional influence had been the primary obstacle preventing more countries from joining the Abraham Accords. He suggested that recent actions have diminished that influence and voiced hope that Saudi Arabia and other nations will now move forward, despite longstanding concerns among potential members about the unresolved Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
