Iran has threatened to attack the Saudi Red Sea port of Yanbu if the United States launches a ground invasion of Iranian territory, escalating tensions across the region. The port has become strategically important as Saudi Arabia relies on an east to west oil pipeline to bypass the Strait of Hormuz amid Iran's blockade.
The Revolutionary Guards also warned civilians in Gulf states to avoid areas near United States forces and hotels housing military personnel, accusing Washington and Israel of using non combatants as human shields. Iran further threatened to target the Emirati port of Fujairah, a key oil export route, and said oil prices would surge sharply in the event of conflict.
The warnings followed repeated ultimatums from President Donald Trump demanding that Tehran reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face destruction of its energy infrastructure. Iran said the strait remained closed to vessels linked to what it called enemy ports and reported turning back several ships.
Missile and drone attacks continued across the region. Projectiles were launched toward Riyadh, while Kuwait's Mubarak Al Kabeer Port sustained damage without casualties. Israel said it would intensify strikes on Iran, with reported attacks on two nuclear facilities.
