Maryam Nawaz attended the opening game at Gaddafi Stadium alongside other dignitaries and was introduced to franchise officials and players. Shah reacted to a social media post about the event, writing, 'Why is she treated like the queen at Lord's?' He later deleted the comment and claimed his account had been hacked.

The Pakistan Cricket Board issued Shah a show cause notice for violating the terms of his central contract and media regulations. He has been asked to respond before any further disciplinary action is decided. Shah is expected to play in his franchise's upcoming match in the tournament.
