Four Israeli soldiers were killed and two others were wounded during a clash with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, the military announced. The fallen troops served in the Nahal Brigade's Reconnaissance Unit, and three were identified as Cpt. Noam Madmoni, Staff Sgt. Ben Cohen, and Staff Sgt. Maxsim Entis. The name of the fourth soldier is to be released later.
According to a military investigation, the unit encountered a Hezbollah cell during operations in the western sector of southern Lebanon in the early evening. The soldiers engaged the gunmen at close range and reportedly struck several of them.
As forces evacuated the wounded, Hezbollah fired an anti-tank missile at the troops, though no additional injuries were caused. Israeli forces responded with tank fire and airstrikes targeting Hezbollah operatives in the area.
