The Tamil Nadu government has established a dedicated control room as tensions escalate in the Gulf region following hostilities involving the United States, Israel and Iran. Chief Minister M K Stalin expressed concern for Tamils living in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and assured that the state is closely monitoring the situation.
Acting on advisories issued by the Government of India, the state has directed the Department of Welfare and Rehabilitation of Non-Resident Tamils to stay in constant touch with the Tamil diaspora in the affected nations. Officials have been instructed to provide immediate assistance wherever necessary.
A control room has been set up at Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi to coordinate with central authorities and respond swiftly to emergencies. The government has also shared round-the-clock helpline numbers for Tamils abroad and their families in the state, urging residents in the Gulf to strictly follow safety advisories issued by Indian embassies.
