Congress Member of Parliament Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has condemned the targeted killing of Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei, calling it 'despicable' and deserving of strong condemnation. She alleged that leaders of major democratic nations were behind the assassination and criticized the response of the Indian government.
Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of aligning too closely with the leaders of Israel and the United States, and said the government's silence amounted to a betrayal of India's values and principles. She argued that India is paying a heavy price for what she described as the substance and style of the Prime Minister's foreign policy.
Calling the widening conflict tragic, Gandhi said multiple nations had been drawn into the crisis and stressed that the world needs peace rather than further war. Echoing Mahatma Gandhi, she warned that 'an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.' Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh also criticized the Prime Minister's recent diplomatic engagements, alleging moral failure and questioning India's strategic positioning amid rising regional tensions.
