Sir Keir Starmer said the Government is looking at all options to support British nationals stranded in the Middle East as conflict involving Iran and United States and Israeli forces intensifies. A small number of flights have departed from Abu Dhabi, including services likely carrying stranded passengers to London Heathrow, while large areas of regional airspace remain closed.
The Prime Minister told Parliament that the situation may remain challenging for some time and urged British citizens in the region to register their presence online and follow updated travel advice. Rapid deployment teams are being sent to assist on the ground, and ministers are working closely with regional governments and the travel industry to help people return home safely.
Airlines including Emirates, Flydubai and Etihad Airways have begun operating limited or repatriation flights, though most scheduled services remain suspended. Widespread cancellations have affected routes between Britain and the Middle East, with passengers advised to monitor airline updates and follow official guidance as conditions continue to change rapidly.
