Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to relay concerns from Arab Gulf leaders to Iran regarding recent strikes on oil infrastructure across the region. The Kremlin said Putin held multiple phone calls with four Gulf state leaders, offering to use Moscow's strategic partnership with Tehran to help reduce escalating tensions.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin is deeply concerned about the attacks and intends to communicate those concerns directly to Iranian leaders. He emphasized that Moscow would make every effort to contribute to easing the situation.
The conflict has contributed to rising oil prices for a third consecutive day, following Iran's response to attacks by the United States and Israel with strikes on energy facilities in Gulf countries and on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. The Kremlin also noted that there are currently no plans for a conversation between Putin and United States President Donald Trump.
