A new poll finds that a slight majority of Americans disapprove of President Donald Trump's handling of the war in Iran. Fifty four percent of voters say they disapprove, while 41 percent approve and 5 percent are unsure. A similar share, 52 percent, believe the United States should not have taken military action against Iran.
Opinions are sharply divided along party lines. Eighty nine percent of Democrats oppose the strikes, while 77 percent of Republicans support them. Among Republicans who identify with the Make America Great Again movement, support rises to 90 percent.
In contrast, Republicans who do not identify with the Make America Great Again movement are more divided, with 54 percent supporting the strikes and 36 percent opposing them. The survey of 1,000 registered voters has a margin of error of 3.1 percent.
