59% of Americans Oppose the Military Action in Iran

A series of national polls conducted after the United States and Israel launched military strikes on Iran show that a clear majority of Americans oppose the action. Roughly six in ten adults said they disapproved of the attacks, according to multiple surveys taken in the days immediately following the operation.

The polling found a sharp partisan divide. Most Republicans expressed support for the strikes, even though many also said they prefer the country to reduce its involvement in foreign conflicts. Democrats were overwhelmingly opposed. More than half of respondents said President Donald Trump was too willing to use military force to advance the nation’s interests, while a smaller share said his approach had been about right.

One survey showed Americans evenly split, though question placement may have influenced the result. Public opinion may still be fluid, as nearly a third of those surveyed said they were not closely following the developments. Historically, early backing for military action can shift significantly over time as conflicts continue.
