Lebanon's health ministry says that 77 people have been killed and 527 wounded since hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah escalated earlier this week. The ministry previously reported that seven children were among the dead, though it has not specified how many of the total casualties are civilians.
The renewed fighting began after the United States and Israel carried out attacks on Iran, prompting Hezbollah to launch missiles and drones into Israel for the first time in more than a year. Israel responded with airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon and in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The violence has displaced more than 83,000 people within Lebanon, according to Lebanese authorities. The Israeli military estimates the figure could exceed 300,000 as it urges residents to evacuate areas near the border and move north of the Litani River.
