President Donald Trump said he was unconcerned about the outcome of ongoing talks between the United States and Iran in Pakistan, stating that the United States had already prevailed militarily. Speaking to reporters, he said a deal would make no difference to him because the United States had won the conflict.
Trump described the negotiations as very deep and reiterated that the United States had defeated Iran militarily. The comments came as Vice President JD Vance led an American delegation in Islamabad for a second day of discussions with Iranian officials.
The president also repeated the United States military’s claim that Navy warships had passed through the Strait of Hormuz to begin clearing Iranian mines, an assertion denied by Iran. He said minesweepers were working to secure the waterway, emphasizing its importance to global oil shipments.
Trump criticized the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, saying allies had not provided assistance during the conflict and were not consulted beforehand.
