Joe Elias and his wife Diana discovered through satellite imagery that their home in the southern Lebanese village of Qouzah had been destroyed amid renewed fighting between Israel and Hezbollah. The couple, who have been unable to return since the violence escalated in early March, learned that their house had been flattened and several of their olive trees uprooted.
Satellite images obtained independently confirmed the destruction after reports that multiple buildings in Qouzah had been demolished following an Israeli ground incursion. Elias described the loss as a catastrophe affecting not only his family but the entire community.
The Israel Defense Forces said five anti tank missiles had been launched from the coordinates of the Elias home toward its troops on 6 March, injuring four soldiers. The military said it struck several military targets, including the house, to prevent further attacks, but did not provide additional evidence to support the claim.
