The meeting comes one day after Harvard sued the Trump administration for freezing grants and contracts. Al Thani is a top ally of both parties and has a major lobbying presence in Washington, D.C. The Trump administration has considered sanctions against Qatari nationals, but some officials have also expressed support for Qatar.
