The US Treasury Department stated that these exports serve as a major financial pipeline for Iran's military and nuclear activities. Emamjomeh's network has facilitated the shipment of millions of dollars' worth of petroleum products, which support Iran's nuclear and weapons development programs as well as regional proxy groups. The sanctions come after recent talks between Iranian and American representatives on Iran's nuclear program, which have been described as constructive.
