The fathers of two girls killed in the Southport attack were among the thousands of runners who crossed the finish line of the London marathon. David Stancombe and Sergio Aguiar, whose daughters were murdered in the Southport mass stabbing last summer, completed the race and were pictured smiling with their medals. Many runners competed wearing fancy dress, including costumes such as a colourful caterpillar and a t-rex. The event also saw Ethiopian runner Tigst Assefa set a new women-only world record in the women's elite race.
