Payton had called Jews 'vile predators' and falsely blamed them for slavery. He claimed that he was dismissed without due process and that Berklee had hired him knowing about his past remarks. The school removed Payton's name from the faculty page and scrubbed its announcement of his appointment. A Change.org petition demanding his firing received over 4,800 signatures.
