Scientists have long been intrigued by the question of whether the Sun we see each morning is the same one. The Sun is about 4.6 billion years old and expected to last for another 5 billion years, showing relative stability on a human timescale. Danish astronomer Christian Horrebow identified cyclical changes in the Sun's activity as early as the 18th century.
