Recent data indicates a significant portion of casualties among Israeli soldiers in Gaza have resulted from operational accidents rather than direct combat. Since the start of Operation Swords of Iron, at least 77 out of 451 fatalities, or about 17 percent, have been linked to incidents such as weapons malfunctions, friendly fire, and vehicle mishaps. Injuries have also risen sharply, with around 1,600 soldiers wounded so far. One recent case involved a fatal drone malfunction that killed a young soldier and injured another, prompting ongoing investigations by military authorities.
