After nearly eighty years, the remains of Henry J. Carlin, a Pennsylvania airman who vanished in a World War II plane crash over Burma, have been identified. Carlin was among six crew members aboard a bomber that went down in 1943, with his remains and those of three others initially unrecovered and buried in a common grave. Decades later, advances in forensic science enabled the identification of Carlin's remains through dental, anthropological, and DNA analysis. His family will finally lay him to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in May 2026, bringing closure to a mystery that spanned generations.
