At a United Nations conference in New York, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa urged Hamas to disarm and transfer control of Gaza to the Palestinian Authority. He proposed the deployment of regional and international forces, under a United Nations Security Council mandate, to help stabilize Gaza, enforce a ceasefire, and protect civilians, emphasizing that these forces would support rather than replace Palestinian institutions.
Mustafa called on the international community to take immediate steps to end the occupation and violence, highlighting the importance of recognizing the State of Palestine. He praised France and President Emmanuel Macron for their recognition and encouraged other countries to follow suit, insisting that a two-state solution based on 1967 borders is the only viable path to peace.
He also stressed the Palestinian Government's commitment to reform and serving its people, despite challenging conditions, and appealed for international support against Israeli policies that threaten Palestinian statehood. Mustafa concluded by warning that peace cannot be achieved through force, but only through shared security and mutual recognition.
