Palestinians bury activist shot dead by West Bank settler

Mourners gathered in Umm al-Khair for the funeral of Palestinian activist Awdah Hathaleen, whose body was returned by Israel 11 days after he was shot and killed by a settler. The funeral was marked by heavy Israeli restrictions, with checkpoints set up and conditions imposed on the burial, reportedly to limit public attention to Hathaleen's activism against settlement expansion in Masafer Yatta. Despite these obstacles, about 100 people attended the ceremony, honoring Hathaleen's legacy and his connection to the Oscar-winning documentary 'No Other Land.' The incident comes amid ongoing violence in the West Bank, where tensions have escalated since the start of the Gaza war.
