Prepare for 'theaters of war': IDF trains for large-scale attacks; launches military exercise 'Dawn' | World News - Times of India

The Israel Defense Forces launched a surprise military exercise called 'Dawn' to test the readiness of its headquarters and command centers for large-scale attacks. Led by Chief of Staff Major General Eyal Zamir, the drill featured unexpected scenarios and multi-scene events across various potential conflict zones. Oversight was provided by Brigadier General Ofer Sarigm and his team, who evaluated the military's response time and effectiveness. The exercise is part of ongoing efforts to audit and improve the competence and preparedness of all military units.

The drill coincided with continued operations on several fronts, including a targeted strike on a Hezbollah operative in southern Lebanon accused of gathering intelligence against Israeli forces. Earlier in the week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a lengthy security meeting to discuss options for advancing the campaign in Gaza, with military leaders presenting strategies for future actions. The Israel Defense Forces affirmed its readiness to implement any decisions made by the country's Security Cabinet.
