Finance Ministry blocks compensation for Israelis stranded abroad during Iran war

The Finance Ministry has chosen not to provide financial compensation to more than 100,000 Israelis who were stranded overseas during Operation Rising Lion last June. Despite calls for support, the ministry opted against allocating hundreds of millions of dollars for this purpose. Daniel Schwartz from the Budget Department stated that the Minister of Finance opposed the proposed compensation framework after internal discussions. The Minister of Transportation retains the authority to restrict compensation to a maximum of two days, exercising discretion over the final decision.
