The Health Ministry has reported the death of a second unvaccinated toddler from measles in Israel within a week. The latest victim, a 1.5-year-old boy from Jerusalem, was hospitalized after several days of illness but could not be revived. The outbreak, which began in April, has resulted in over 500 diagnosed cases, with most hospitalizations and deaths occurring among unvaccinated children, particularly in Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh.
Currently, 19 children under six remain hospitalized, two in intensive care. In response to the surge in cases, health authorities are recommending earlier and additional doses of the measles vaccine for infants in high-risk areas. The Ministry continues to urge parents to vaccinate their children and to avoid crowded places if symptoms develop.
