El Al Israel Airlines has announced the resumption of flights between Ben Gurion airport and Eilat after a decade-long hiatus. Beginning October 21, the airline will offer two daily flights, with fares starting at NIS 139 each way and discounted tickets for local residents. This move comes at the request of the Ministry of Transport to boost connectivity to Israel's southern resort city, though the service is currently planned only for the winter months. Despite the vital role these flights play for Eilat residents, airlines have highlighted the route's lack of profitability, with planes often full only during peak seasons and holidays. Other carriers, including Israir, Arkia, and Air Haifa, also operate flights to Eilat, but Arkia has previously warned of reduced service due to low demand outside busy periods.
