UN special rapporteur Albanese will contribute to 'Gaza tribunal´,...

Jeremy Corbyn has announced that United Nations special rapporteur Francesca Albanese will participate in the upcoming Gaza tribunal event, which he is hosting through the Peace and Justice Project. The tribunal, scheduled for early September in Westminster, aims to gather testimonies and perspectives from lawyers, activists, and voices from Gaza and the West Bank regarding the policies and actions surrounding the conflict. Corbyn's previous attempt to launch an official inquiry into the United Kingdom's role in Gaza was blocked in parliament, prompting the organization of this independent public hearing.

Albanese, who focuses on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, is expected to offer her views on the legality of the United Kingdom's involvement and other related issues. Corbyn compared the tribunal to the Chilcot inquiry into the Iraq War, emphasizing its open and inclusive nature. He also discussed his plans for a new left-wing political party, describing it as a grassroots movement rather than a conventional party, and addressed recent comments made about him by Nicola Sturgeon.
