Minneapolis school attacker 'obsessed with idea of killing children', officials say

Officials in Minneapolis have identified Robin Westman as the suspect in a devastating attack at Annunciation Church and its affiliated school. Westman, who previously attended the school and whose mother worked there, fired dozens of shots through windows using three firearms, leaving children injured as they fled for safety. Authorities found a smoke bomb at the scene and confirmed the attacker left behind a note, though the motive remains unclear.

Investigators revealed that Westman expressed hate toward multiple groups, including the Jewish community and President Trump, with anti-religious references found on weapons and in notes. The attack has been described as an act of domestic terrorism motivated by hate-filled ideology. Officials emphasized the importance of not publicizing the attacker's name, citing concerns about notoriety and copycat incidents.

Police confirmed that all firearms used were legally purchased and that Westman was not on any government watchlist. The church's decision to lock its doors before Mass likely prevented further tragedy. Witnesses recounted harrowing scenes, with children pleading for help as they escaped the violence.
