The United Nations is seeking clarification from the United States regarding the decision, while European Union foreign ministers have publicly urged the United States to reconsider. European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has also requested member states to propose new sanctions against Russia in response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
