The Pentagon has issued several memos this week that impose strict fitness and grooming standards, lessen education requirements, and change the processes for reporting discrimination and fraud, waste, and abuse. The new guidance will take effect starting in January, with active-duty troops required to take two annual fitness tests. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth also ordered a review of the military's education system and training-school standards, as well as a reduction in mandatory training requirements.
