Security officials are expressing concern over a proposal to deport released prisoners, including senior members of militant groups, to Gaza. They argue that sending these individuals to Gaza could enable them to help rebuild the command structure of Hamas, which has been significantly weakened during the recent conflict. The officials recommend instead releasing the prisoners to the West Bank, where Israeli forces would have greater ability to monitor and, if necessary, re-arrest them. They reference the case of Yahya Sinwar, a former Hamas leader who was released in a previous prisoner exchange and later played a key role in orchestrating attacks against Israel.
