A new dispute has emerged between Hamas and Israel, focusing on the release of prominent Palestinian leaders held by Israel. Hamas is pressing mediators to secure the freedom of key figures such as Marwan Barghouti, Ahmad Saadat, Abdullah Barghouti, and Hassan Salama, a demand Israel has so far rejected. In addition, Hamas has dismissed the idea of accepting a transitional governing body for Gaza led by Tony Blair, reiterating its refusal to disarm without concrete steps toward Palestinian statehood. Senior Hamas leader Dr. Basem Naim emphasized that the group remains a central force in the region and will not relinquish its position easily.
