'Didn't do for Nobel': Trump repeats tariff claim on India-Pak war; calls Gaza truce his 8th solved conflict - The Times of India

Former United States President Donald Trump has once again claimed credit for resolving multiple international conflicts, including the recent India-Pakistan dispute and the Gaza ceasefire, which he described as his eighth solved war. Speaking to reporters en route to the Middle East, Trump asserted that his use of economic measures such as tariffs played a decisive role in ending hostilities between India and Pakistan, stating he threatened heavy tariffs to force a resolution within 24 hours.

However, Indian officials have firmly rejected these claims, emphasizing that the ceasefire following Operation Sindoor was the result of direct talks between military leaders from both countries, without any third-party intervention. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ministry of external affairs have reiterated that trade negotiations with the United States were not connected to the decision to halt military operations. The conflict began after a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, leading to Indian strikes in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and a subsequent ceasefire reached through bilateral dialogue.

Trump also commented on the Nobel Peace prize, saying his actions were aimed at saving lives rather than seeking recognition. His remarks come as he travels to the Middle East to mark the Gaza ceasefire and participate in a peace summit.
