Government ministers convened an emergency phone poll just hours before the anticipated release of Israeli hostages to approve changes to the list of prisoners set for release under the agreement with Hamas. Two individuals were replaced with Hamas-affiliated prisoners, and several minors were swapped for Gazan women, reducing the total number of prisoners to be released. The government also approved additional detainees to streamline the process. The Israeli military is on high alert, preparing for the release operation from multiple locations in Gaza, with hostages expected to be freed in two phases. Upon release, hostages will be debriefed, reunited with families at a specially expanded military base, and receive medical evaluations before being transferred to hospitals. The Red Cross will subsequently enter Gaza to recover the remains of those who died in captivity.
