Producer Who Tore Down Israeli Hostage Poster Back on Broadway

James L Simon, a Broadway producer previously criticized for tearing down posters of Israeli hostages in New York City, has returned to the spotlight as a co-producer for the musical Operation Mincemeat. Simon's actions last October drew widespread attention and led to his inclusion in an online database tracking antisemitic incidents, though he later apologized and claimed his intent was to keep city streets clean.

Since then, Simon has kept a low profile but has reemerged with Operation Mincemeat, which opened at the John Golden Theatre in March and will run until February of next year. He has also produced other shows, including The Marriage of Alice B. Toklas by Gertrude Stein, and has actively promoted his positive contributions to Broadway through paid online placements, effectively pushing news of his past controversy out of the spotlight.

Simon continues to be involved in the theater community, serving on boards and contributing to nonprofit organizations. Despite requests, neither Simon nor representatives for his productions have commented on his recent activities or the renewed attention surrounding his career.
