Iraq has announced a nationwide ban on the popular video game platform Roblox, citing concerns over child safety and the risk of exploitation and cyber-extortion. The government stated that Roblox's content and communication features were found to be incompatible with local social values and traditions, following a comprehensive study and field monitoring. Roblox has denied the allegations, emphasizing that user safety is its top priority and expressing willingness to work with Iraqi authorities to restore access. With this move, Iraq joins other countries such as Turkey, Oman, Qatar, and China, which have also banned Roblox over similar concerns. The platform is currently facing lawsuits in Louisiana and Canada related to child safety and alleged exploitative practices.
