Police say autistic Arab Israeli teen detained on suspicion of aiding Hamas, ISIS

Police in Jerusalem have announced plans to indict a 14-year-old Arab Israeli boy, diagnosed with autism, on suspicion of attempting to aid terrorist groups. The youth allegedly sent photos and videos of Israeli security buildings to members of Hamas and another extremist organization, and reportedly tried to manufacture explosives, though it is unclear if any were successfully made.

The boy was detained in October while visiting family in Ramallah, and his identity is withheld due to his age. His defense attorney criticized the police for publicizing details of the investigation, which was under a court-ordered gag order, and condemned the conditions of his detention, claiming he has faced abuse and neglect in prison.

The boy's mother and lawyer insist he is not a threat and suffers from significant mental and physical health issues, calling for his release and a psychiatric evaluation. The prison service has denied allegations of mistreatment, stating the youth has been regularly examined and is in good health.
