Archaeologists have uncovered a 3,000-year-old Maya site in Mexico, known as Aguada Fénix, which is believed to mirror the Maya map of the universe. The site, dating back to 1050 BCE, predates the development of the Maya writing system and was abandoned around 700 BCE. Researchers used ground excavation and advanced laser-based mapping technology to reveal the layout and features of the site. The study suggests that large-scale construction and collective rituals at Aguada Fénix may have included feasting, trade, and social gatherings, providing insight into early Maya society.
