A sixth suspected member of Hamas has been arrested in Germany, accused of involvement in a plot to attack Jewish targets. Mahmoud Z, originally from Lebanon, was detained on a train in northern Germany after crossing from Denmark. Authorities allege he received automatic weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition from another group member in Hesse. Several other suspects have been arrested in connection with the plot, which prosecutors say aimed to carry out assassination attacks on Israeli or Jewish institutions in Germany.
The arrests followed months of investigation, with police stating the group had been gathering weapons and supplies since the summer. The suspects face charges of preparing serious acts of violence and membership in a foreign terrorist organisation. The latest arrest comes as trials continue for other alleged members, and the investigation extends to other European countries.
