China still winning major Israeli infrastructure deals

Chinese companies continue to secure major infrastructure contracts in Israel, despite growing concerns in Western countries about the strategic implications of such deals. While government tenders are subject to scrutiny by the Foreign Investment Review Committee, Chinese firms have managed to participate in critical projects by partnering with private sector entities, such as Dalia Energy's recent agreements for the construction of two large power plants.

Chinese involvement in Israeli infrastructure is not new, with companies like China Harbor and PowerChina playing significant roles in past and ongoing projects. Although some investments have been blocked on national security grounds, others have proceeded, sometimes after legal challenges or through indirect participation.

This ongoing cooperation stands in contrast to the global trend of distancing from Chinese investment in strategic sectors. Israeli officials maintain that all foreign investments in essential infrastructure are reviewed for security risks, but recent statements have avoided directly addressing concerns about China.
