Antisemitic incidents in the Czech Republic reached an all-time high in 2024, according to the Federation of Jewish Communities. The annual report recorded 4,694 incidents, marking an 8.5% increase from the previous year, which itself had seen a dramatic rise following the events of October 7 and the subsequent conflict in Gaza. Petr Papousek, head of the Federation, highlighted a growing normalization of antisemitism, particularly through criticism of Israel, and noted a concerning alliance between extremist groups and disinformation outlets.
Most incidents occurred online, but there was also a notable increase in physical attacks and desecration of Jewish property. Authorities reported four physical assaults and twelve cases of vandalism, including an attempted arson at a synagogue in Brno by teenagers influenced by extremist propaganda.
