Iran's intelligence ministry has issued a warning about alleged plots by foreign adversaries, including the United States and Israel, to target Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and destabilize the country. Intelligence minister Esmail Khatib stated that these threats include assassination attempts and hostile attacks, and accused those involved of acting as agents for enemy nations. Such direct warnings regarding threats to Khamenei's life have been rare, especially before the recent conflict between Iran and Israel. During the June war, Israeli and American strikes targeted Iranian officials and facilities, and leaders from both countries made statements regarding the possibility of targeting Khamenei. Khamenei, who has led Iran since 1989, remains the nation's highest authority.
