Israeli startup Orca AI, founded by Dor Raviv and Yarden Gross, has launched an artificial intelligence-powered navigation platform designed to make commercial shipping safer and more efficient. Drawing inspiration from popular real-time traffic apps, their new Co-Captain system enables vessels to share live data on sea conditions, hazards, and security threats, helping crews anticipate and avoid risks in increasingly congested waters. The platform uses advanced computer vision and cloud-based data sharing to autonomously detect obstacles, weather changes, and even security incidents, creating a collaborative network among ships. Installed on over 1,000 vessels worldwide, Orca's technology aims to reduce accidents and near misses, addressing the growing challenges faced by global maritime trade due to congestion and security threats.
