Over a span of two days, Storm Byron brought intense rainfall to the southern region, resulting in widespread flooding and flash floods. Major roads were closed, streams overflowed, and emergency crews conducted numerous rescues as rainfall totals reached about half of the area's annual average in just 24 hours. Some locations recorded their wettest day in over a decade. With rain expected to return soon, the first days of Hanukkah are likely to be wet as well.
