Ahmed al Ahmed, a 43-year-old fruit store owner and father of two, was filmed bravely tackling and disarming one of the gunmen during a terror attack at a Hanukkah event on Sydney's Bondi Beach. Despite being unarmed and having no experience with firearms, Ahmed wrestled the weapon away and was shot twice in the arm by the second attacker. He was hospitalized following the incident, which left at least 11 dead and dozens wounded.
Leaders and officials have praised Ahmed's courageous actions, calling him a hero whose intervention likely saved many lives. The attack, which targeted a crowd of around 2,000 people, is among the deadliest against Jews outside Israel in recent decades. One gunman was killed, and the other was taken into custody, while the identities of the attackers have not yet been confirmed.
