Violent protests broke out in Amsterdam on Sunday night in response to performances by Israel's Chief Military Cantor, Shai Abramson. Demonstrations were held outside the Concertgebouw concert hall and at Museumplein, with police authorizing gatherings at both locations. The unrest followed the cancellation of one of Abramson's concerts due to opposition linked to his role as Chief Cantor. Hundreds of protesters carried anti-Israel signs and banners, condemning the concert hall for hosting the event.
During the concert, some demonstrators escalated the situation by throwing smoke grenades and breaching police barricades. Police arrested several individuals, though details about their identities or affiliations were not disclosed. The chairman of the umbrella organization of Dutch Jewry described the protests as a deliberate provocation against the Jewish community.
