The Syrian government has released new official maps that no longer include the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights within Syria's borders. This change, featured in state media and government publications, marks a significant departure from previous representations, showing only the Quneitra district and omitting the Golan Heights entirely.

Reports indicate that these new maps have been used in official Syrian Foreign Ministry documents as well. The move comes amid reports of secret negotiations between Israel and Syria, in which Israel considered ceding Mount Dov and the Shebaa Farms to Syria in exchange for Syria relinquishing its claim to the Golan Heights. However, these talks ended following violence against Druze Syrians in Suwayda.
