Thousands set to rally against Netanyahu and Qatargate 'treason' in weekly protests

Thousands of demonstrators are set to rally across major cities on Saturday night, protesting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government's alleged ties to Qatar, following recent reports linking top aides to the so-called Bild and Qatargate investigations. The protests, organized by various activist groups, also address broader concerns such as judicial reforms, military service exemptions, and the government's response to the October 7 Hamas attack.

In Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa, families of hostages and victims, including the relatives of slain police officer Ran Gvili, will lead rallies demanding accountability and the return of hostages' bodies before any progress on a Gaza truce. Prominent speakers, including former police chief Roni Alsheich and victims' family members, are expected to address the crowds, calling for new elections and a formal inquiry into Netanyahu's alleged involvement.

Netanyahu's party has dismissed the latest investigation as a 'Qatar-fake' probe, downplaying connections between the prime minister and indicted aides. The protests come amid ongoing debates over the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire plan, with families insisting that further withdrawals should not proceed until all hostages are returned.
