Two young haredi women from central Israel were arrested at Václav Havel Airport in Prague after customs officials discovered 96 kilograms of khat in their luggage. Authorities believe the women were acting as couriers for an organized smuggling network, allegedly recruited by a known Israeli drug dealer. The seized khat, valued at tens of thousands of euros, was intended for Prague's immigrant communities, where the plant is in high demand. The women's families have reached out to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Israeli consulate in Prague is currently providing assistance and monitoring the situation. This incident follows a similar case four months ago, when two haredi men were arrested in Germany for smuggling khat, but were recently released.
