Newly released data from the New York Police Department reveals that Jews were the most targeted group in hate crimes across New York City last year, accounting for 57% of all reported incidents. Out of 576 suspected hate crimes in 2025, 330 were antisemitic, equating to a suspected anti‑Jewish incident every 26 hours. Other groups, including Asians, Black people, Hispanic people, and those targeted for their sexual orientation or religion, experienced significantly fewer incidents. The police emphasized that these figures represent suspected hate crimes and may change as investigations continue. The total number of antisemitic incidents saw a slight decrease from the previous year, while overall hate crimes fell by 12%.
